Odysse is recruiting In-Vehicle Safety Operators (Autonomous Vehicle Safety Drivers) to support advanced autonomous mobility operations across London. This is a unique opportunity to work within a professional, safety-critical environment focused on advanced vehicle technology, real-world driving conditions, mapping activities, and intelligent mobility systems. As an In-Vehicle Safety Operator, you will support advanced autonomous vehicle operations across London through real-world driving, mapping, and testing activities within a structured, technology-led operational environment. This role is best suited to individuals seeking stable, structured, full-time employment within a technology-led operational environment. Successful candidates must be calm under pressure, highly attentive, safety-focused, and comfortable working within strict operational procedures and scheduled shift structures
Compensation
Final package and bonus structure will be confirmed during the recruitment process. Shift pattern may vary depending on deployment requirements.
What you need to apply
- ●Minimum age of 25 years old
- ●Full UK driving licence with at least 5 years post-qualification driving experience
- ●Clean driving record, with no serious offences, disqualifying endorsements, or concerning insurance claims history
- ●Right to work in the UK and able to pass DBS, medical, drug, and alcohol checks
- ●Strong hazard perception, situational awareness, and safety-focused driving
- ●Calm, professional, punctual, and able to follow structured schedules and strict procedures
- ●Comfortable using technology, digital reporting tools, and basic computer systems
- ●Good English communication skills, with the ability to act professionally around partners, regulators, and the public
- ●You are looking for casual, gig-style, or fully flexible driving work
- ●You prefer working independently without structured procedures or supervision
- ●You are not comfortable in a safety-critical role with constant monitoring responsibility
- ●You find it difficult to stay focused for long periods during vehicle operations
- ●You do not want to complete DBS, medical, drug, or alcohol screening

Is this gig work or employed?+
This is a full-time PAYE employed role, not gig work.
Do I need autonomous vehicle experience?+
No prior autonomous vehicle experience is required. Odysse will provide structured onboarding and operational training.
What does a typical shift involve?+
You will act as the onboard safety presence during autonomous vehicle operations, monitoring road conditions, vehicle behaviour, and system performance in real time.
What kind of shifts should I expect?+
The role is primarily based around structured weekday operational shifts, although occasional weekend, night, or adjusted schedules may be required depending on deployment needs.
Do I need a PCO licence?+
Not necessarily, having that experience in the past is a nice to have requirement.
What checks are required?+
Successful candidates must be able to pass Enhanced DBS, medical, drug, and alcohol screening processes.
